Berry Creek Tennis 

The Tennis Club at Berry Creek, set amidst The Reserve at Berry Creek, is surrounded by native oaks and has ten lighted plexipave® all-weather tennis courts. A full snack bar is open year-round, making it a great place to unwind and have a seltzer after your match. The Tennis Shop carries a wide variety of apparel, racquets and accessories. In addition to tennis, Berry Creek has a fully equipped fitness studio with state of the art cardiovascular and Cybex strength equipment. The Junior Olympic-style pool is a popular place to cool of and relax in the summer months.

Rick Wood

Director of Tennis

Rick Wood arrived in Georgetown relocating from Salem, Oregon along with his wife Stephanie and two children, Madden (age 11) and Sydney (age 15). Rick has an extensive background in tennis both teaching and coaching high school, college level and country clubs across America for over 30 years.


Rick’s last position was Director of Men’s and Women’s Tennis at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. (DIII) He oversaw all aspects of these tennis programs for the last 10 years. Rick graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Economics in 1992 at Willamette University which made his time there extra special. During his college career, he competed at the NAIA National Tournament in Kansas City, Missouri all four years. He won NAIA District II Player of the Year in 1991 in both the singles and doubles district titles. In USTA tennis, Rick competed at the national level in singles in 1991, 1994 and 1998. He reached the USTA nationals in mixed doubles in 1996 and 2005.


After his time as a student at Willamette University, Rick took over the Junior Director position at Salem Swim and Tennis in 1990 and 1991. He then moved to Illahe Hill’s County Club (Salem, OR.) as the Teaching Professional 1992-1997 and then Head Tennis Professional and Junior Development 2001-2011. He was the girls' varsity head coach at Sprague High School in Salem from 1992-97. He has additional experience as a tennis professional and assistant professional at country clubs in Virginia. ‘97-‘01 (Army/Navy CC, CC of Fairfax.)
